The fashion show was quite a success. It was sold out!
Mr. Cyrus McNeal gave The Path of Pink a few minutes to convey our mission to the fashion show attendees. We held a silent auction, as well. Between that and general donations, we raised over $500! And, we got to share our passion for breast cancer awareness, education, and, yes, even style, with over 700 people. The crowd gave us a warm welcome and they were very generous.
Prior to the start of the show, SADA (MSU's Student Apparel Design Association) put on a short "Pink" exhibition. Several of the SADA members created pink designs which they modeled. The clothes were designed with the new knowledge that women who have had breast cancer-related surgeries need different, specialized clothing kept in mind.
The State News covered the event and we were mentioned in the paper and in a video interview! The articles Student models hit runway for charity, Students hit catwalk at ICONZ show, and the video, Strutting Their Stuff, were published October 8th and 9th.
We would especially like to thank our donors for providing us with items for the silent auction. Bloomies Flower Studio, Tabor Hill Winery, The Wild Strawberry Florist, Nottingham Equestrian Center, Kathy Smith (MaryKay), All for You Salon, David Vandermolen, Cassy Puskala and Sean Dombroski, Grandpa's Cider Mill at Jollay Orchards, Grand Pointe Marina, and The Cutting Team each gave toward the auction. And thank you to our winners!
Christina Applegate
I did get a response from Ms. Applegate's manager's secretary. She sent me an email that they would be passing our information on to Ms. Applegate. She is so dynamic and seems to have such a positive attitude through her whole experience. We would love for her to try our upcoming clothing line and help spread the word to the other women out there that could use it!
