Donations
Some immediate needs:
- 501(c)(3) application! ($750)
Thank you to Dr. Gibbs and Dr. Russell for donating toward this!
- Marketing (Brochure printing, banner printing, etc.)
Through the generous donations of Dr. Gibbs and Dr. Russell, we were able to purchase 2000 brochures and distribute them to the Lansing, Michigan area. They are being snatched up quickly! We also purchased a very nice vinyl banner that we have already used a couple of times. Now, we need even more brochures!
- Expo Registration - Mid-Michigan Women's Expo ($337.50)
This is half of the cost of attending as an exhibitor. This amount will hold a space for us; with the rest due closer to the date of the show.
- Clothing manufacturing costs (rough estimate of $5,000, at this time)
A few longer term needs:
- Expo Registrations - ($337.50 now; more later)
Besides the Mid-Michigan Women's Expo in February, we would also like to attend the West Michigan Women's Expo in March. This expo requires a $387.50 deposit and $387.50 at the due date.
Another very important expo we would like to attend is the 9th Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer. As an exhibitor, we would be in front of our exact target audience for our Survivor Style! clothing line. At this time, no fees or exhibitor information have been published for the 2009 show.
- TTrademark and Servicemarks (up to $400, approximately, for "The Path of Pink" and "Survivor Style!", each)
- Annual Audit ($4,500)
- Website production costs
IIf you are interested in donating to help cover any of these, please click on our "Donate Now!" button in this newsletter, on our website, or you can even send a check to 9456 E. Vermontville Hwy., Dimondale, MI 48821. Please make your check out to "The Path of Pink."
If you would like to sponsor The Path of Pink at one of the expos we need to attend, we will gladly display your logo on our booth and on our website!
Please note the change in the following tax information:
AAt this time, donations to The Path of Pink may be tax deductible, but you must check with your tax professional to be certain. Much of the tax exempt status of donations given prior to receiving a 501(c)(3) designation seems to depend on the total amount of donations received by the organization within a fiscal year. Again, please check with your tax advisor on this matter. He or she may call us (517-719-4456) with any questions, which we will readily answer.
After we get our 501(c)(3) application in and approved, donations will be tax deductible. The 501(c)(3) status usually becomes retroactive to include any donations submitted to us from the start of our incorporation. Please consult with your own tax advisor regarding this. (We are reviewing the application and should be filing soon.) As of June 19, 2008, we are operating as an incorporated nonprofit entity in the State of Michigan.
Volunteers
- We are looking for more volunteers to become part of our Professional Advisory Board. If you are a doctor, lawyer, accountant, professional fashion designer, etc., please know that we can use your knowledge to improve The Path of Pink! We need a team that can review medical, legal, insurance, financial and fashion links as related to the breast cancer treatment process. Please e-mail info@pathofpink.org for more information.
- We need an attorney(s) to oversee our legal matters, such as applications like the 501(c)(3), contracts and disclaimers.
- We have an on-going need for volunteers to surf the web and suggest breast cancer-related links for our web site.
- WWe will need volunteers during September and October to help with the fashion design side of The Path of Pink, too. Contact Cassy at cassy.puskala@pathofpink.org for more information.
Thank you for taking the time to read about The Path of Pink! Feel free to contact us with questions or suggestions.
