The FORCE organization played a key role in getting The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) legislation signed into law. This Act prohibits health insurance and employment descrimination based on genetic information or test results. I did not want to get tested until this law was passed, as I feared what could happen for myself and my family if my results were positive. Before this Act, I might have been denied employment or health care if I tested positive! Jennifer Quack, survivor
One of the major social networking sites on the web, Facebook was originally geared toward adults. It provides an environment in which to share your day-to-day moods, concerns, joys and activities, as well as pictures, causes and other personality and character affects. Applications allow you to play games and join in competitive interactions with others in your virtual friend network.
To me, Facebook seems a little less chaotic than its rival, MySpace. You can be a bit more private and create settings that allow you to interact with just your friends or friends of friends and not every random stranger on the internet. You may be able to set up MySpace in the same manner, but once I switched to Facebook, I don't get on MySpace so much anymore. There is a ton of "causes" to which you can become a fan or friend. Once you register, you can search for breast cancer causes - there are almost 500 groups, applications and pages that you can visit, join, become a friend or fan of. - Jennifer Quack, survivor
